Tips to Host the Best Stress-Free Dinner Party
With the New Year’s Day right around the corner, it is easy to start stressing about your 2018 party and event planning. There is so much to do, so much shopping to be done, so many lists to check twice. If you are anything like me, you have probably gone through the entire list of to-do’s in your head a million times, so much so that you can probably recite it like that bad poem you wrote for English class in high-school (Hey, so what you were going through an emo phase, it’s ok.) You can feel yourself starting to unravel, where do you start. What do you do? How do you make sure to get everything done in time? How am I going to make the perfect meal with so much going on?
Here are a few simple tips and tricks that will make every dinner party in 2018 a hit:
Make a List and Check it Twice
There are great organizational apps (I like to think of them as my virtual assistant) that can help you prioritize. From stocking up your pantry and creating menu ideas to managing RSVP lists, storing these items in one place can help you organize and strike off those to-dos! Plus, the feeling of accomplishment you get when you check an item off your list is always a bonus (whether it’s on paper or on your phone!) I personally use, Pro Party Planner, it has everything I need, and reminds me of a few things I may have forgotten to may my event fantastic.
Get the Fancy Silverwear and Dishes Ready
Holiday feasts and festive parties mean bringing out your best silverware and serving dishes. To refresh your silver, try Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. Just rub a paste of three-parts Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and one-part water onto the silver with a clean cloth or sponge. Then rinse thoroughly and your dinnerware will be sparkling-ready to impress your guests. I picked up several larger & value sized Arm and Hammer Baking soda boxes recently in at my local Independent Grocery store to help with our 2018 party prep. You can find a location close to your home here.
Expect the Unexpected
For that unexpected guest who drops by, not-so-holiday-specific items like stationary, pens and notebooks are a nice last-minute gifting idea that anyone will appreciate. Taking a non-holiday themed approach means items can be purchased well in advance of the holiday shopping rush. I find that wine, chocolate or lovely smelling candles put a smile recipients faces.
Keep Messes to a Minimum
Having a trusted stain fighter on-hand to tackle those holiday spills and stains is a must! My go-to products are the OxiClean MaxForce Foam Laundry Pre-Treater and MaxForce Spray Laundry Pre-Treater. Both can treat wine stains, gravy spills and stains from sticky fingers to keep linens and napkins table-ready for next season. The Pre-treaters can stand for up to a week before washing. With kids on our guest list, at almost every event, I have found using OxiClean MaxForce Foam Laundry Pre-Treater on our blankets and linens in the kid’s media room help wash out even the toughest orange pop stains.
Minimize the stress this season and enjoy your holidays, the most important part is to spend time with those friends who are like family. Our goal this year is to host friends over at least once a month and host larger gatherings at the cottage all summer long. Enjoy the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 with my stress relieving party planning tips!
