Last Thursday evening, digital influencers & traditional media professionals were invited to the opening of Common Eatery.
Common Eatery is located at 380 Elgin Street, beside Common Concept Shop. We were greeted by a sparsely decorated large room with long tables and common seating. My friend & I sat near some Ottawa bloggers we knew but were drawn into conversation with the lovely staff from Ottawa Life Magazine.
The menu had many different eclectic menu items and a very impressive craft cocktails menu.
The Unicorn did not disappoint. This is the perfect patio beverage. The 1/2 rimmed glass was a unique touch to the cocktail.
The Scotch Egg was equally beautiful as it was tasty, the egg was the perfect consistency while the outer shell was crunchy and warm.
My medium-well steak was seasoned perfectly, the greens were fresh and drizzled with a light dressing.
Although out of sequential dinner order, the crispy wontons were my favourite part of our dinner experience. The spicy Thai and thin plum sauce gave the wontons a boost but were not overpowering.
According to our server, the dessert menu will change weekly, and there will only be one dessert to choose from. Even though my table mates tried to discourage me I ordered four separate desserts for our table. That seemed to be the best decision of the night! This light frozen caramel treat was the perfect ending our tasting menu adventure.
