We like games in our family, board games, Wii games, active games anything that we can play together as a family. Finding games we can all play together has been a challenge as the girls have different ideas as to what is fun. Spontuneous is a game we have being playing for a couple of weeks now and it has quickly been added to high rotation on our game night schedule.
The concept is easy, one player (Tunesmith) says a word and the others race against each other and the clock to try and blurt out a 5-word portion of lyrics from any song containing the given Trigger-Word! The player who begins singing first, gets to roll the dice and advance around the board! If nobody can sing a song, the Tunesmith must be able to back it up with a song of their own, or else they roll both dice and move backwards. As players advance around the board, certain spaces will require them to draw a Spontuneous Card and attempt the crazy challenge! Whoever reaches finish first and completes the final challenge, wins the game!
Playing games without arguing is one of the rules in our home. Any arguing and the game is put away, no questions asked. With Spontuneous, the girls actually get along, we have not had to put the game away once for arguments. That is a big deal in our home. We have played Spontuneous several times with bigger groups of up to 10 players and because the game is face paced they participants don’t get bored with the game. Eight girls, all nine years old were able to successfully play the game for 90 minutes then asked to play it again the next morning!
Katie has been to two separate birthday parties since we have had this game and both times I gave this game as a gift. I find the price to be perfect for birthday gifts and Christmas gifts.
I will be giving away one Spontuneous game to one of my readers! Just follow the directions below to win!
