Staples Canada – Saving our Environment One Essay at a Time

The Conversation:
“Mommy don’t you know you can just press here, here then here and you can find the pictures you deleted” stated my very knowledgeable nine year old daughter. That was a turning point for me, my oldest child has surpassed me in her knowledge of technology. My 7 year old and 4 year old have computer talents I do not understand, nor can duplicate. Beckett who is 4, can create Lego masterpieces online while AndiePandie has the fashion industry cornered with her up and coming designs.

Staples Canada has partnered with Earth Day Canada to help bring technology into schools in need. Staples is helping kids like mine keep progressing with the technological tools they need to succeed. Schools across Canada can compete to win 1 of 10 computer labs from Staples Canada.

Staples Canada is running this contest in collaboration with Earth Day Canada who works closely with teachers across the country to help develop programs designed to teach students about the importance of sustainability. Staples  is  donating $25 to Earth Day Canada for every school that enters the Recycle for Education contest. So it is really a win-win situation, just by entering the contest we can do something positive for the environment, how cool is that?

To enter, one student from each Canadian elementary or secondary public school can submit a principal-approved 500-word essay on how their school has become environmentally responsible. Students can submit their entries at Staples.ca/RecycleForEducation, or on the Staples Canada Facebook page. Winning schools will be announced in early April. Deadline for entries is February 22, 2013.

So you know I am a huge fan of Staples Canada. As an educator, parent of three and supporter of the environment I could not be happier with the latest partnership Staples Canada has embarked on with Earth Day Canada. I wrote this blog post about their Teacher Appreciation Day 2012 this past summer and happily wrote this post for Staples Canada. All opinions in this post are my own.

  1. It’s crazy how much our little ones can figure out when it comes to computers! The sad part is when they don’t have access to the technology. Happy to know that Staples is helping to change that.
